Frequently Asked Question

Is the Router/AP in my modem any Good?
Últimas actualizaciones hace 6 años

The quick answer is NO. Your ISP (Rogers/Bell/ETC) will now give you a router/access point along with your model as a single package. While these work they there is also a number of issues with using them and why i normally recommend to not use them rather use your own router/access point.

First: If you have a lot of wireless devices you want to use 802.11ac protocol also offers downstream Multi-User MIMO (MU-MIMO) technology, which is designed to provide bandwidth to multiple devices simultaneously rather than sequentially. Odds are the provided one does not have this it will have older standards.

Second
: Security, these are never patched, use default password and have as many hole as swiss cheese. It is always better to have your own router inside there to protect your network.

Third Antennas : If you think of wireless as a bubble (that looks like an egg) around your router most people do have have the modem to make the bubble go in the right places. There is a reason why standalone routers have multiple Antennas.
